Arrest Made After Man Fatally Stabbed In Downtown Tampa

Tampa police arrested a man after the victim was found unresponsive with stab wounds.

TAMPA, FL — Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal stabbing in downtown Tampa.

Diego Ponce-Molina was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder with a weapon following the Friday incident, Tampa police said in a statement.

According to police, officers were called after a man's body was found in the 800 block of East Zack Street around 4 p.m. When police arrived, they found apparent stab wounds on the man's body.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Ponce-Molina was still at the scene when officers arrived. According to police, he was taken into custody after detectives determined Ponce-Molina approached and assaulted the victim without any apparent interaction or confrontation.
