HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – Suspects who allegedly tried swiping an ATM machine recently from a Walgreens on Gunn Highway in the Citrus Park area are being sought by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

The men arrived in a reportedly stolen van, then a crowbar was used to break through front door of the store, officials said.

A chain attached to the van was wrapped around the machine, and after three tries to yank loose the ATM, the chain broke, deputies said.

"The problem was the ATM was anchored to the floor, by design, and didn't make for an easy target," Col. Chad Chronister said. "We could sure use some information on these foolhardy criminals."

Anyone with information on the incident or suspects is encouraged to call the agency at 813- 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 800- 873-8477.
