TAMPA, FL — A mural with the appropriate theme, "Sail Away - Night or Day," is transforming Big Ray’s Fish Camp at 6116 Interbay Blvd. at the Tampa Convention Center.

Designed by artist Meaghan Farrell Scalise, the mural will feature a tropical oasis of colorful leaf patterns, swimming fish, shining sun rays and magical nights of celebration.

Scalise said the lively patterns with multitudes of circles represent commitment, community or all cyclic movement.

The sun's rays are antique skeleton keys in nod to Tampa's rich history and pirate demands every year.

The multicolor stripes represent the many layers of enriched soil that play an important role in supporting life on land and filtering rivers and waters, Scalise said.

The plants in mural pay homage to the nearby Hillsborough River's complex ecosystem and the vibrant, energetic colors denote celebration and connectivity," Scalise explained.

This project is a collaborative effort of the Tampa Convention Center, Aramark and Tampa’s Art Department.

Capco Art is in charge of the mural's installation.
