TAMPA BAY, FL — Last year, the coronavirus pandemic changed Black Friday as Americans knew it. Retailers in Tampa Bay cut back hours. Some moved sales online to avoid large crowds in stores.
This year, with millions of Americans now vaccinated against the coronavirus, die-hard shoppers are planning a return to Black Friday normalcy.
But could the Black Friday frenzy be derailed by global supply chain issues? Die-hard Black Friday shoppers will soon find out.

For Tampa Bay residents who are planning Black Friday shopping sprees, here's a rundown of the hours the malls will be open Nov. 26:
- International Plaza and Bay Street, 2223 N. Westshore Blvd., Tampa – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Westfield Citrus Park, 8021 Citrus Park Town Center, Tampa – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Tampa Bay Premium Outlets, 2300 Grand Cypress Drive, Lutz – 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Westfield Countryside, 27001 U.S. 19 N., Clearwater – 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- University Mall, 2200 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa - 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- WestShore Plaza, 250 WestShore Plaza, Tampa – 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- The Shops at Wiregrass, 28211 Paseo Drive, Wesley Chapel – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Gulf View Square Mall, 9409 U.S. 19, Port Richey – 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Hyde Park Village, 744 S. Village Circle, Tampa – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Grove at Wesley Chapel, 6105 Wesley Grove Boulevard, Wesley Chapel, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Gallup found Americans plan to spend an average of $837 on gifts this season, up just slightly from the $805 they estimated they would spend last year.

Both pandemic-era estimates are lower than what Gallup found in the preceding few years, including the record-high of $942 recorded in 2019.

Meanwhile, the National Retail Federation is predicting holiday spending this year has the potential to shatter previous records. The organization has predicted holiday sales will increase between 8.5 percent and 10.5 percent over 2020, meaning shoppers intend to spend about $859 billion.
