Carmel Cafe to Open in South Tampa

The local restaurant chain will open its fourth location on West Swann Avenue this August and feature an iPad menu and lunch and dinner service.

Carmel Cafe will open a new location in South Tampa this summer, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The owners broke ground Tuesday at 2601 W. Swann Ave., the Times reports, on what will be the fourth Carmel Cafe. There are already locations in Countryside, and Carrollwood, plus a third slated to open in Sarasota next month.

The restaurant serves up modern Mediterranean fare on a menu that includes hummus, fish and seafood, flatbreads, soups, salads and more.

The local chain is owned by a group of former Outback Steakhouse executives, who are spending $2 million on the South Tampa launch, according to the Times.

The new restaurant, scheduled to open in mid-August, will feature an iPad menu, a wine bar and seating for 150 people, the Times reports. There will be lunch and dinner service, plus brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
