I have always longed to have a neighborhood Italian restaurant to call my own. Carpeteno has opened in the old Grimaldi's spot in Citrus Park Mall and I believe many will now embrace it as their own Italian spot.

The is so little outdoor patio dining space in Tampa. I love their commitment to creating a great experience with live music and great happy hour specials. (more later).

If carbs are your guilty pleasure then do or don't let them bring you the warm bread sticks.

A mainstay dish of any self respecting Italian restaurant! House made meatballs paired with fresh pasta was plentiful and delicious.

I seldom like eggplant Parmesan try as I might. This time I did not have to struggle. Perhaps it was the fried crispness or the great accompaniments of a fresh brushetta topping and creamy mozzarella.

CHICKEN MARSALA seared chicken breast sauteed with marsala wine, button mushrooms, and herbs, served on a bed of linguine

On to the pizza. It was airy and crusty at the same time.

More about that happy hour.
