‘A Total Loss’: Cody’s Original Roadhouse In Tampa Destroyed In Fire

Firefighters battled a heavy fire at Cody's Original Roadhouse in Tampa Thursday morning, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.

TAMPA, FL — Cody’s Original Roadhouse in Tampa is “a total loss” after the restaurant was ravaged by “a tragic fire,” a spokesperson for the company said.

The blaze engulfed the entire building, “causing irreparable damage,” the company said in a news release.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue received 911 calls about the heavy fire around 5:15 a.m., the department wrote in a Facebook post.

Crews tried to bring a hose inside the building, “but conditions deteriorated, so command called for a defensive attack,” HCFR said.

Firefighters blazed the battle for more than an hour.

There were no injuries reported. The fire investigations unit is working to determine the cause of the blaze.

Cody’s first opened its Tampa location in 1999.

"We remain committed to our brand and our community. We are resilient, and I have no doubt that we will emerge from this stronger. Together, we will rebuild and come back bigger and better than before,” Jason Gisclair, president and chief operating officer, said.
