Cops: Same Person May Have Stabbed 2 Women

Two similar attacks in recent weeks have Tampa authorities wondering if the same person is responsible.

The Tampa Police Department is investigating two serious stabbings that are so similar detectives say it’s possible the same man might be responsible for both.

The first case occurred back on Dec. 27 around 9:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of Armenia Avenue. A woman, an email from police spokeswoman Andrea Davis stated, was approached from behind by a man who stabbed her in the chest. The woman, who has not been identified, suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

On Jan. 20, a similar attack occurred. This time a woman was sitting on a bus bench on the corner of Armenia Avenue and Violet Street around 8:30 p.m. A man approached her and asked if she was waiting on the bus, Davis wrote. When the woman said “yes,” and turned to look in the direction of the bus, she was stabbed in the neck. That victim also received serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, Davis noted.

The suspect in both cases has been described as a white or Hispanic male between the age of 20 and 30. He stands about 5 feet, 7 inches in height, has a “very skinny” build and short, curly hair.

Investigators say the crimes may be related and they do appear to be random. The suspect may live in the area of the attacks.
