Covid 19 Faces of Disparity - Systemic Racism During Pandemic
Community Organization, Voice of the People hosts live event: Covid 19 Faces of Disparity - Systemic Racism in the midst a Pandemic

On December 19, 2020, the community organization, Voice of the People, Straight Talk, No Chaser, will host its second online town hall. This time they hope to educate people of color on the health and safety from the Coronavirus and address concerns about the upcoming vaccine.
The community event founded by longtime friends, Johnny A. Green, Sr. and Franklin Hills, Jr. will be stream live on Facebook at 7 PM.
“We know that racial ethnic disparities in COVID-19 are the result of the pre-pandemic realities which are nothing new. It's a legacy of structural discrimination that has limited access to health and wealth for people of color,” said Green, Jr. “As Black and Brown people we must continue to educate ourselves on the effect the coronavirus and the vaccine will leave on our families and communities for years to come.”

The pair hopes the participants come out of the town hall with a better understanding of the value of social discourse and critical thinking concerning securing progress in a democratic society. In the end, only unity and engaged participation will make change happen.
“COVID-19 is a horrific virus which has caused death and destruction in the US and beyond,” Hills, Jr. “However horrific, structural racism is equally horrific because it has created conditions for COVID-19 to disproportionately ravage through black and brown communities unchecked.”
