'Dead' Cat Comes Back 5 Days Later

The feline from Tampa Bay will now undergo surgery to repair damage from a car crash.

In a case of life imitating art, a Tampa Bay area feline struck by a car and buried miraculously returned to its owner five days later.

While it’s unclear if Bart the cat has ever heard of Stephen King’s “Pet Cemetery,” it is clear that the little critter does need some pretty extensive medical assistance to get past damage from being struck by the car.

According to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Bart’s owner, who has not been identified, found him in pool of blood and believed him to be dead.

“Heartbroken, he buried him,” the society wrote on its Facebook page.

A mere five days later, Bart turned up in neighbor Dusty Albritton’s yard, Fox 13 reported on its YouTube page.

“I took him to the owner and he opened the door and he was in complete shock,” the station quoted Albritton as saying. “There’s no logical explanation.”

Bart did suffer a broken jaw in the crash and is likely to lose an eye, as well. The humane society reported Tuesday that its veterinarians intend to perform surgery to repair the damage. It is believed that Bart will make a solid recovery despite the damage.
