Dog Shot, Killed During Armed Robbery Of Tampa Man Walking 2 Dogs

A man was walking his two Dachshunds in Seminole Heights when an armed robber came up from behind, demanding money and shooting at the dogs.

TAMPA, FL — A family's pet was shot and later died following the armed robbery of a man while walking his two dachshunds in Seminole Heights Friday night.

Just before 7 p.m., a man was walking his two dogs in the 2600 block of West Powhatan Avenue when an armed man came up behind him, pointed a gun and demanded money.

According to Tampa police, the dogs became agitated and were moving around when the robber shot at them multiple times, hitting one of the dogs.

The victim took both his dogs in his arms and began running, trying to get away from the robber. The robber began chasing him, firing two more times.

The dog owner was able to escape and immediately took his dogs to an emergency veterinarian where one of the dogs died from a gunshot wound.

The robber is described as a thin Black man, about 6 feet 4 inches tall, wearing a black hoodie and gray sweatpants. He was last seen running east on West Powhatan Avenue.
