​Early Voting Starts Monday In City Of Tampa

For voters who like to vote in person, the wait is just about over.

TAMPA, FL -- For voters who like to vote in person, the wait is just about over.

Starting Monday, Tampa voters can cast their 2019 City of Tampa Municipal Election ballot at any of seven Early Voting sites throughout the city.

The ballot includes an open race for mayor, as well as city council seats and 18 proposed amendments to Tampa's City Charter.

Candidates for mayor are Jane Castor, Harry Cohen, Dick Greco Jr.. Christopher "Topher" Morrison, David Straz, Mike Suarez and Ed Turanchik.

Running for the City Council District 1 seat are Joseph Citro, Alan Clendenin, David Loos, Craig A. Newman, Walter L. Smith II.

Candidates for City Council District 2 are John Godwin, Charlie Miranda and Joe Robinson.

Candidates for City Council District 3 are John Dingfelder, Nicholas Glover, Stephen Lytle and Vibha "Ms. V" Shevade.

Running for the District 4 City Council seat are Bill Carlson, Sal Guagliardo Jr. and Lee Lowry.

On the ballot for District 5 are Ella K. Coffee, Todd "TC" Cole, Orlando Gudes, Jeffrey L. Rhodes and Ralph "The Computer Guy" Smith.

City Council District 7 candidates are Quinton F. Robinson and Luis Viera.

Charter amendment proposals include removing gender references from the charter, prohibiting discrimination based on gender identification, making the city council chairman the acting mayor when the mayor is out of the city and allowing city council members to hire legislative aides.

During Early Voting, voters can go to any Early Voting site and their ballot will be printed for them at the voting location. This is different than Election Day voting when voters can only vote in the polling place assigned to their precinct.

City of Tampa Early Voting Locations will be open Feb. 25 to March 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Election Day is March 5.

Jan Kaminis Platt Regional Library

New Tampa Regional Library

North Tampa Branch Library

West Tampa Branch Library

Voters are encouraged to bring their marked-up sample ballot for reference, and a Florida Driver's License or other photo/signature ID for voter check-in. For a full list of accepted IDs, click here.

Voters can also drop their Vote By Mail ballots off at any of the Early Voting sites while they're open for voting.
