Elderly Man, Dog Rescued From Tampa House Fire

An elderly resident was rescued by neighbors and his dog rescued by Tampa firefighters Thursday when his home caught fire.

TAMPA, FL -- An elderly resident was rescued by neighbors and his dog rescued by Tampa firefighters Thursday when his home caught fire.

Tampa Fire Rescue was called to the home at 3408 E. 9th Ave. at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 21 to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the single-story wood-frame home.

Neighbors had already assisted the homeowner in getting out of the house safely. Firefighters were able to rescue his dog that was trapped in the back yard.

There were no injures and the fire was under control by 5 p.m.

Investigators from the fire marshal's office are still determining the cause of the fire.
