(Expired) Flood Warning Issued for Hillsborough

Much of the county could see flooding Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for parts of Hillsborough County as storms move into the region.

“At 3:15 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain from training thunderstorms that will cause flooding,” the agency wrote in its advisory. “Doppler radar indicates that widespread 2 to 3 inches of rain has already fallen across much of the warning area with localized amounts exceeding four inches.”

With additional heavy rain expected through 5 p.m., the agency has issued the warning with an expiration set for 5:15 p.m. The warning covers Tampa, Temple Terrace, Brandon, Seffner, South Tampa and other parts of the county.

A warning is issued when flooding is imminent or has already been reported. Motorists are urged to exercise caution on local roads and avoid driving through flooded areas.

The Tampa Police Department warned of flooding along Bayshore Boulevard around 4:05 p.m. The agency has been receiving calls about people stranded in their car and urges residents to take care on local roads.
