
The National Weather Service in Ruskin has issued a flood warning for Hillsborough County until 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Communities included in the warning area are Davis Islands, Brandon, Tampa, Temple Terrace, Carrollwood, Lake Magdalene, South Tampa, Citrus Park and Riverview, among others.
“At 10:32 a.m. Doppler radar indicated showers and isolated thunderstorms producing heavy rain,” the agency’s advisory stated. “Significant flooding has been reported in the warning area. Rainfall amounts of 3 to 7 inches have already occurred.”

The agency is warning motorists to take caution on local roadways.
“Most flood deaths occur in automobiles,” the advisory warns. “Never drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway.”

Almost the entire Tampa Bay area also remains under a flood watch until 8 p.m. Tuesday as more rain is anticipated.
