Girl, 13, Accused Of Threatening Shooting At Hillsborough Middle School
The teen was arrested Friday after authorities received a tip about a school shooting threat at Dowdell Middle Magnet School.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL â A 13-year-old girl is facing charges after authorities said she threatened to shoot up a Hillsborough County middle school.
The teen was arrested Friday after the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received an anonymous tip regarding a school shooting threat at Dowdell Middle Magnet School. Patch is not identifying the girl because she is a minor.
According to authorities, the teen posted a note from her Instagram account that stated, "I'm the one who's gonna shoot up Dowdell Middle Magnet." When deputies met with her, she told them the note was meant as a joke, authorities said.

The teen was taken into custody and charged with one count of threatening to conduct a mass shooting and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communications device. Authorities found no guns or weapons on her when she was arrested.
The incident remains under investigation.
