Floyd’s 99 Barbershop of South Tampa today announced plans for their grand opening event to be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The day-long celebration will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, an in-shop scavenger hunt, prizes, and more. The shop, located at 1155 S. Dale Mabry Highway, Unit 6, in South Tampa, is owned and operated by franchisee Stephanie Noyes, a lifelong member of the Tampa Bay community. “Floyd’s is all about giving our customers an amplified experience, and we can’t wait to create that excitement at our grand opening event,” said Stephanie, noting that this is her third Floyd’s location, with shops already open in Clearwater and St. Pete. “This is an opportunity for the community to celebrate with us, meet the stylists, and even get a haircut,” she said. “Floyd’s is for everyone – men, women, and kids – and we’ll be accepting walk-in appointments all day.” The South Tampa location is offering 50% off haircuts for the first 30 days, beginning on Friday. A protest group is rallying supporters to join an early Saturday morning picket line that's set to form at the Port of Tampa.Block the Boat Tampa says it wants to stop the Israeli ship Zim Alabama from offloading any of its cargo in the port, according to an email to media. The picket is planned from 5:30 a.m. to about 2 p.m. at 2002 Maritime Blvd."Block the Boat Tampa stands in solidarity with the people of Gaza and all of Palestine who have been displaced, wounded, and killed," the email stated. "In Tampa, we join the international Block the Boat movement to call for an end to the illegal Israeli occupation of the West Bank, and the siege of Gaza."Organizers are asking local longshoremen to honor the picket. A similar effort was <a href="http://www.wmnf.org/news_stories/activists-hope-to-block-ship-from-israeli-company-from-unloading-at-port-tampa-bay" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">conducted back in August</a>.
