High School Seniors Treated To Prom Attire Of Their Dreams
More than 200 Tampa Bay high school students were treated to a day of prom dress and formal wear shopping at TLC's Say Yes to the Prom.
TAMPA, FL – More than 200 Tampa Bay high school students were treated to a royal day of prom dress and formal wear shopping at TLC’s Say Yes to the Prom event at Raymond James Stadium.
More than 20 AT&T employees volunteered to help the deserving high school girls “shop” for prom dresses, shoes, jewelry and purses – the full attire for their upcoming proms. And high school boys got to choose formal wear and dress shoes for the big night.
The students – from Leto, Spoto, Brandon and Chamberlain high schools – chose from a selection of 2,500 Macy’s dresses, shoes, bags and accessories to complete their prom look. And they had styling help from TLC host Monte Durham.

The students also were treated to makeovers and hair stylings from Paul Mitchell Schools consultations. The students were thrilled to shop for their entire prom outfit without ever stopping to look at a price tag.
“It’s so nice because senior year is really expensive,” said Syerra Vincent, a Leto High School senior. “And it’s great that we get to go all out here. It takes a lot of weight off for us and our parents.”

As part of the event, students were introduced to professional mentors to offer them an ongoing connection to the professional world. AT&T employee volunteers made that connection for the students, serving as mentors and style guides.
They helped the students select their full attire –even guiding them with choosing nail polish to go with their outfit.
“We all want to make our mark,” said AT&T director of sales Milagros Montoute, “and I’m happy to be able to make these students feel beautiful, and to feel pride for their hard work.”
In 2018, the Say Yes to the Prom tour will touch the lives of nearly 1,000 students in Tampa, Miami, Houston, Knoxville and Silver Spring, Maryland.
