Hillsborough County Extends State Of Emergency, Bans Price Gouging

As cleanup continues from Hurricane Irma in the Tampa Bay area, Hillsborough County remains in a state of emergency and bans price gouging.

TAMPA, FL — As crews clear debris from streets and work to get power restored to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses in the wake of Hurricane Irma, Hillsborough County have extended the state of emergency in place for another week. The declaration will remain until Tuesday, Sept. 19, in Hillsborough County.

The executive order gives the county administrator to carry out all emergency responsibilities throughout Hillsborough County, including the cities of Plant City, Tampa, and Temple Terrace. Authorities have also issued an executive order forbidding price-gouging local businesses, vendors, merchants, and anyone operating a retail business from charging more than the normal average retail price.
