Hillsborough Deputies Called To Another Murder-Suicide Scene

TAMPA, FL -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide on North 42nd Street.

Deputies received a 911 call at about noon Tuesday, Oct. 23, concerning two dead men at an apartment on North 42nd Street in North Tampa.

The men were identified as Michael Edward Kurz, 59, and his stepson, Juan Luis Hernandez, 30. Deputies believe Kurz shot his stepson and then himself. The family had just moved to the Tampa area.

"Today we are saddened to report another senseless loss of lives as the result of family violence," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We encourage anyone who is in need of crisis intervention to call The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. They can be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week by dialing 211."
