Hillsborough Invited To Local Mitigation Strategy Meeting
Hillsborough County residents will have an opportunity to review and offer input on the 2020-2025 Local Mitigation Strategy on June 16.

Hillsborough County, Fla. – Hillsborough County residents will have an opportunity to review and offer input on the 2020-2025 Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) during a virtual public information meeting on Tuesday, June 16, at 6 p.m. The Local Mitigation Strategy is a document that identifies potential hazards that may impact Hillsborough County, including the cities of Tampa, Temple Terrace, and Plant City. Additionally, the strategy includes an assessment of the areas vulnerable to hazards and identifies possible actions that can mitigate potential damage. The Local Mitigation Strategy includes the County's Floodplain Management Plan and Community Wildfire Protection Plan. During the community meeting, Hillsborough County staff will provide an overview of strategy updates, discuss proposed hazard mitigation activities, and answer questions from the public via telecommunications technology. The meeting will be streamed live and made available online following the virtual community meeting. Interested members of the public can view and participate in the meeting using this link. A recording of the meeting and an optional public comment survey will be made available on the County website following the live session to allow for public comment. The public comment survey will close on June 26, 2020. Hillsborough County staff will collect and consider all feedback submitted before the LMS is presented to the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners for adoption at the July 15, 2020, board meeting.
