Housewife Bakery Serving Pastries And More For 60 Years
Sixty-year-old Housewife Bakery continues to serve up Italian favorites.
TAMPA, FL -- Under the new ownership of Alex and Carmen Bidone, the 60-year-old Housewife Bake Shop at 6821 N. Armenia Ave., Tampa, is continuing to serve the community with Italian favorites such as cannolis, scacciata and various Italian cookies as well as a complete line of pastries, pies, cakes and breads.
A family-owned and -operated bakery serving Tampa Bay since 1959, Housewife Bakery has long been a favorite of pastry lovers. The Bidones, who took over the bakery six months ago, plan to continue that tradition as well as add some items they hope will become favorites.
Among the new offerings are empanadas. Made from scratch and baked instead of fried, the empanadas are served with the customer's choice of fillings including beef, chicken, ham and cheese, spinach, onion with cheese and blue cheese with nuts.

Also new to the menu are French eclairs, filled with vanilla custard with chocolate buttercream icing, and the Argentinian "Sandwich de Miga."
The Sandwich de Miga is made from a 25-pound loaf of bread with the crust cut away, leaving the "miga." It is then turned into a two-layer sandwich filled with ham or turkey, cheese, egg, tomato, palm hearts, artichoke hearts and more.
