TAMPA, FL — The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is looking for some help catching a hit-and-run driver responsible for crashing into the nonprofit’s fence over the weekend.
“Someone heading north on Howard Avenue plowed through our fence and damaged two of our vehicles,” the organization reported on its Facebook page Monday. “We are very thankful that the driver did not hit the building and hurt any of our animals. But, the damage to our vehicles is still a blow.”
Hoping to catch the motorist responsible, the society is now offering a $1,000 reward to anyone with information about the person responsible. The organization’s officials believe the crash happened late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Anyone who might know who struck the fence and vehicles at the society's 3607 N. Armenia Ave. location is asked to email communications@humanesocietytampa.org.
The agency is also accepting donations to offset the costs of repairs. Donations may be made online via the society’s website. Donors can simply write “vehicle repair” in the notes section to ensure the money goes toward repairs, society officials told Patch.

One of the damaged vehicles is used weekly to pick up animals from the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center, the agency noted on Facebook. That van needs repairs to the hood and bumper.
A request for more details about the crash from local law enforcement was not immediately answered.
