Hurricane Dorian: Governor Suspends Fares On Toll Roads

Effective immediately, Gov. Ron DeSantis has suspended tolls on Florida's Turnpike Mainline, and other toll roads across the state.

ACROSS FLORIDA — Effective immediately, Gov. Ron DeSantis has suspended tolls on Florida’s Turnpike Mainline, and eight other toll roads across the state, in preparation for Hurricane Dorian.

By suspending tolls, residents and visitors will be able to quickly and safely evacuate if necessary.

The toll suspensions include:

  • Alligator Alley
  • The Turnpike Mainline (SR 91), including the Homestead Extension (SR 821)
  • Sawgrass Expressway (SR 869)
  • Beachline Expressway (SR 528)
  • The toll section of Interstate 75
  • Daniel Webster Western Beltway (State Road 429)
  • State Road 417
  • Interstate 95 express lanes
  • Interstate 75 express lanes
  • Interstate 595 express lanes
  • Interstate 295 express lanes
  • First Coast Expressway (SR 23)

In addition to the roads above, the Central Florida Expressway Authority has suspended tolls on the following:

  • State Road 408
  • State Road 451
  • State Road 414
  • State Road 453
  • State Road 538
  • State Road 551

Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Kevin Thibault has worked closely with Nicola Liquori, executive director for Florida Turnpike’s Enterprise, to ensure the Turnpike is prepared for an increase in traffic. Florida’s Turnpike serves as a major north-south evacuation route.

“This directive will help to increase mobility for those who choose to evacuate and Governor DeSantis should be commended for his proactive approach in anticipation of Hurricane Dorian,’’ Thibault said. “We encourage everyone to drive safely and exercise patience with their fellow drivers.”

Three service plazas that had been closed along Florida’s Turnpike have been reopened.
