Impaired Driver Charged After Driving Wrong Way On I-75

A North Miami man is facing charges after police found him passed out in the driver's seat with a blood alcohol content of 0.19.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A North Miami man is facing charges after state police said he drove the wrong way on Interstate 75 while intoxicated.

Alex Jose Nunez, 32, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following the incident on Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

According to authorities, troopers were notified just before 3 a.m. about a Chevy SUV traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-75 near State Road 56.

Troopers responded to the area and found the SUV stopped in the median just north of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard. Troopers also discovered the driver — later identified as Nunez — passed out in the driver's seat, police said.

After waking up Nunez, troopers arrested him and took him to the Hillsborough County Jail, where authorities determined he had a blood alcohol content of 0.19.
