Indigenous People Day: Film 'Black Indians: An American Story'

TAMPA, FL — Advocates for Race Amity will present the film "Black Indians: An American Story," with a discussion to follow, in recognition of 2022 Indigenous People Day, on Monday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.

Advocates for Race Amity are showing the movie with the goal being to recognize and celebrate the descendants of these Americans whose ancestry goes back to the original inhabitants of this land. Their heritage is rooted in the coming together of two peoples with unimaginable resilience, resourcefulness and bravery.

The showing of this informative movie regarding the relationship between two groups - Native Americans and enslaved Africans - who were subjected to severe persecution, is part of American history that needs to be understood and appreciated, organizers say.
