The farewell celebration will feature a silent auction of Selmon's memorabilia in the restaurant, benefiting the USF Selmon Mentoring Institute.

The USF Selmon Mentoring Institute continues a passion of Selmon’s before his death in 2011. He wanted to prepare USF student-athletes for life after graduation and when their career on the field is over. It's a three-year program, ending with the student-athlete being mentored by a member of the Tampa Bay community in a field they are interested in pursuing after college.

Selmon holds a special place in the hearts of Tampa and specifically USF fans. When the restaurant opened in 2000 in partnership with Outback Steakhouse, there weren't many places that catered specifically to USF football fans. For years, the Greater Tampa Chapter of the USF Alumni Association hosted its road game watch parties at the restaurant.

It was known for its Southern dishes that Selmon grew up on in Oklahoma: Sweet Heat Fried Chicken, Mama’s Meatloaf and Soul Good Pulled Pork.

Selmon's eventually expanded to Sarasota, Fort Myers, Brandon, New Tampa and Carrollwood, some of which were converted into Glory Days sports bars by Outback Steakhouse.

Lee Roy Selmon's remains open in Sarasota and Fort Myers but may be converted into Glory Days bars.
