Lightning Fans Invited To Fantasy Camp
The third annual Lightning Made Fantasy Camp takes place in March.
TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay Lightning fans with dreams of personally taking to the ice will soon get their chance. The team has announced the dates for its third annual Lightning Made Fantasy Camp.
The event takes place March 3-6 at Amalie Arena. For a price, fans can sign up to “live the life of an NHL star with four days of on- and off-ice training alongside NHL and Lightning alumni,” the team announced in an email to media. “That includes on-ice practice sessions, off-ice training, meals and more.”
This year’s camp includes a new Alumni Player Draft Dinner set for March 2 at the downtown Hilton. Participants who sign up can register to be one of six team captains. During the dinner, captains will get to choose their favorite Lightning alumni to work with their teams for the duration of the camp.

This year’s alumni participants include Mathieu Garon, Brian Bradley, Dave Andreychuk, Chris Kontos, Andre Roy, Fredrik Modin, Tim Taylor and Jassen Cullimore. A few Lightning players have also signed up to participate in the “championship” game set for March 6. They are Vaclav Prospal, Filip Kuba, Dmitri Afanasenkov, Nikita Alexeev and Paul Ysebaert.
“We are very excited to provide fantasy campers the opportunity to spend the full run of this year’s camp on the ice with five members of our 2004 Stanley Cup Championship team (Andreychuk, Taylor, Modin, Cullimore and Roy), as well as a member of the first Lightning team ever (Kontos),” Lightning executive director of community hockey development Jay Feaster said. “Moreover, when it comes to story-telling, locker room hi-jinx, practical jokes and having fun with teammates, there is no one better than Andre Roy. We can’t wait to see what Andre has in store to try to influence the captains to select him first overall in the first-ever Lightning Fantasy Camp Alumni Player Draft.”

Participants in this year’s fantasy camp will also receive special edition items made just for the camp and tickets to the Bolts’ match against the Carolina Hurricanes on March 5.
Space in the camp is limited. While goalie positions have already sold out, skater spots are still up for grabs as are captain spots. The cost for skaters is $1,446.65, plus a $53.35 fee. The price for captains is $1,932.09, plus a $67.91 fee. To find out more, visit the Lightning online.
