Lightning Fans Warned About Ticket Scams

Bolts fans interested in attending home games in the Eastern Conference Finals are asked to be cautious when buying tickets from others.

TAMPA, FL — As the Tampa Bay Lightning continue their march toward the Stanley Cup, local law enforcement is warning fans to watch out for ticket scams.

According to the Tampa Police Department, scammers may be out to part loyal fans from their money by passing off bogus tickets to the Eastern Conference Finals as the real deal.

“If you’re taking the risk of buying tickets from a private seller, please use caution,” the agency wrote in an email to media. “To protect yourself, arrange to meet at a police department or public place where there are surveillance cameras. If possible, take a photo of the ticket seller's ID, or take a photo of the tag on their car.”

The May 24 game, if needed, will be played again in Tampa with game seven scheduled for play in Pittsburgh, should the series continue that long.
