Lime scooter company is offering a free e-scooter unlock for the first 2,500 riders on the Fourth of July.

TAMPA, FL — Lime e-scooter rental provider is partnering with Tampa Mayor Jane Castor to support Tampa's Boom by the Bay Fireworks Show by offering a free e-scooter unlock for the first 2,500 riders on the Fourth of July.
The unlock code is "UNLOCKTHEBAY" and riders can use it any time on July 4.
Additionally, Lime released Fourth of July safety tips for scooter riders. Although riders are required to watch an animated safety video before their first ride, Lime is emphasizing five additional safety tips ahead of the holiday and long weekend:

- Don’t drink and scoot. No matter what form of transportation you’re using for your July 4 festivities—car, bike or scooter—the same rules apply.
- Helmets are your friend. You wouldn’t hop on your bike without a helmet, would you? Scooters are no different—protect your head and wear a helmet.
- Sharing isn’t caring. Electric scooters are designed for one rider at a time. If your pal needs a ride, get them their own scooter.
- Make eye contact with others using the road. Making eye contact with drivers and other road users makes them notice you instead of seeing through you.
- Be respectful of those around you. Scooters belong in the bike lane—not the sidewalk—so use them whenever possible and don’t block walkways when parking your scooter.
Lime has put safety first for the Tampa pilot program and invested significant resources in safety education, initiatives and events throughout the pilot. Among them are:
- Before anyone rides a scooter, they will be required to watch a safety video in the Lime app that explains permitted parking spaces, proper etiquette (i.e. no riding on the sidewalk) and other safety tips.
- There will be a First Ride Academy hosted in the coming weeks to teach new users how to ride safely and appropriately.
- To date, Lime has distributed 250,000 free helmets to riders globally.
- Lime has dedicated customer support, trust, education and safety teams available to riders at all times.
- Lime’s local operations staff also patrols the pilot area to verify scooters are parked properly and to fix problems quickly.
