MacDinton's, Steak N' Shake, Due Amici Cited For Code Violations
Using raw eggs in drinks, the presence of live flies and rusty cans of food are some of the violations found at local restaurants.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL –Using raw eggs in drinks, the presence of live flies and rusty cans of food are some of the violations Hillsborough County restaurants were recently cited for by inspectors from the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Two restaurants were temporarily closed on Dec. 14 due to code violations.
The Steak N’ Shake at 12921 Sheldon Road in Tampa was closed after receiving 13 violations including flies in the food preparation area, in the milk shake area and in the dry storage area. The restaurant was also cited for soiled milk shake blender heads and the dishwasher not sanitizing dishes properly.

Pot Belly at 4011 George JB Highway was also temporarily shut down after receiving nine violations. They included live flies near the coffee grinder, front serving station, sink and clean dish rack. The restaurant was also cited for storing sanitizer next to the drink mixer and having dented, rusted cans of roasted red peppers.
Fans of Due Amici at 1724 E. 7th Ave. in Ybor City might be disappointed to hear that the restaurant received nine code violations on Dec. 14. They included storing raw chicken over ready-to-eat artichokes, no proof of employee-required training, an employee wearing a ring while making pizza and rusting inside the beer cooler at the bar station.

The C House at 6005 N. Florida Ave., Tampa, was cited for 29 violations on Dec. 14 but only one was a high-priority violation. The restaurant was warned against storing food at improper temperatures. Other violations included a lack of hot water at the employee hand-wash sink, serving a bar drink that contained raw eggs whites and not labeling a spray bottle containing a toxic substance.
MacDinton’s Soho, 405 S. Howard Ave., Tampa, was reprimanded after receiving 22 violations on Dec. 13. Among the violations was storing food in ice used for drinks; cooked curry chicken, pulled pork and brown gravy “not being in a wholesome, sound condition;” and reach-in cooler shelves soiled with food debris.
