Magic Johnson Talks Turkey In Tampa
Basketball legend Ervin "Magic" Johnson was in Tampa to help distribute 400 Thanksgiving turkeys to needy families.
TAMPA, FL — Basketball legend Ervin "Magic" Johnson joined former Major League Baseball star and Tampa native Gary Sheffield and Tampa Mayor Jane Castor in distributing Thanksgiving turkeys to more than 400 needy families.
The distribution was part of a Pop Up Pantry event at Cyrus Greene Community Center, 2101 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., hosted by Simply Healthcare and Heaven Destiny Assembly of God Church.
In addition to distributing the turkeys, the pop up included a kids' play zone and cooking demonstrations.

Johnson, currently co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises, also promoted a new Medicaid health plan focusing on HIV/AIDs treatment. Clear Health Alliance is partnering with the University of South Florida Health Morsani College of Medicine to offer the plan.
In 1991, Johnson shocked the sports world when he announced that he was HIV positive.
