Man Killed in Home Invasion Identified

Hillsborough County deputies say they are looking for three suspects in the deadly encounter.

Tampa, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man in what is believed to have been a home invasion.

According to the agency, deputies responded to 219 Bywater Drive around 11:06 p.m. Monday after receiving a call about a possible home invasion. Once there, they learned three armed men had walked up to a mobile home and confronted people both outside and inside the home.

A man inside the home was shot in the confrontation and later died from his injuries, the sheriff's office said. The victim has been identified as Amari Martinez, 25.

Detectives do not believe the incident was random.

A reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case is being offered by Crime Stoppers. Tips may be called in to 1-800-873-TIPS.
