Police Identify Possible Shooter At Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park
Tampa Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday morning at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in downtown Tampa.
TAMPA, FL — Tampa Police say they've identified a person who may be responsible for the shooting death of an 18-year-old Tampa man at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in downtown Tampa.
While detectives haven't named the person, they say he's now being interviewed and a firearm has been recovered.
Police received multiple reports of shots fired at the park at 12:14 a.m. When officers arrived, they discovered Antonio Javorous "Jay Jay" McGuire, 18, shot on the east side of the park. They began life-saving efforts until Tampa Fire Rescue arrived to transport McGuire to Tampa General Hospital where he died.

According to police, nearly 100 people showed up at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park Saturday shortly after 9:30 p.m. causing a disturbance and fighting. Detectives believe the shooter and McGuire were part of this crowd and that McGuire was targeted.
