
The Tampa Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning at the Red Roof Inn on Busch Boulevard.
According to the department, the incident happened around 3:45 a.m. when a man and a woman were inside room 242. Someone banged on the door and fired shots into the window. The woman inside the room fled, police wrote in an email to media, leaving the man behind.
A front desk employee at the 2307 E. Busch Blvd. hotel called 911 after the shots rang out.

When police arrived, they found Michael Porter, 29, of Winter Haven. Porter was taken to a local hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
The identity of the female remains unknown at this time. Police say she left the scene.
