Motorcyclist Hit Speeds Of 150 MPH In 2-County Chase: FL Troopers

After spotting motorcyclists racing in Tampa, one led troopers on a chase through Hillsborough and Pinellas, FL Highway Patrol said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A motorcyclist faces multiple charges after hitting speeds of 150 mph as he led troopers on a two-county chase Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

While on routine patrol, FHP aircraft spotted several motorcycles driving recklessly and racing on Westshore Boulevard in Tampa around 10:40 p.m.

The group traveled to and across the Gandy Bridge as the FHP Aviation Unit tracked them.

They were met by a trooper, who tried to pull over one of the riders.

The rider, later identified as 19-year-old Michael Alexander Fiallo of Wesley Chapel, fled from the traffic stop, FHP said.

Fiallo drove to 4th Street and, eventually, headed south on Interstate 275 at about 150 mph.

He drove to Carillon Parkway, where he abandoned his motorcycle and was captured in a nearby parking garage, FHP said.

Troopers charged Fiallo with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and no motorcycle endorsement. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
