Newborn Puppies Die After Being Thrown In Dumpster Alive: Tampa Police

A woman faces animal cruelty charges after throwing 3 newborn puppies, who later died, in a dumpster while alive, Tampa police said.

TAMPA, FL — A woman was arrested for putting newborn puppies in a bag and throwing them in a garbage dumpster while they were still alive, according to a Tampa Police Department news release.

Angela Giudice-Burris, 44, was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.

A witness found three puppies “barely alive” in a dumpster at 1512 N. Clark Street on Nov. 24, police said. At least two of them were zipped up in Ziploc-style bags.

They took the puppies to the local Humane Society for emergency care, where they later died.

Police were contacted and detectives began an animal cruelty investigation.

"It's disturbing to see a case of animal abuse in our community," Chief Lee Bercaw said. "We will not tolerate this kind of behavior and will hold those accountable for their actions."

City of Tampa video surveillance footage captured video of the suspect’s vehicle, leading detectives to Giudice-Burris.

In addition to her arrest, Hillsborough County Animal Control also removed two adult dogs from her home.
