No Deep-Dish Chicago Pizza for Mayor Buckhorn

The Tampa mayor now has to pony up on his bet with Chicago's Rahm Emanuel.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel will soon find himself dining on some of Tampa’s finest eats courtesy of the Lightning’s loss to the Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn bet Chicago’s leader a culinary smorgasbord of traditional Tampa treats versus Emanuel’s own Chicago fare the Bolts would take the title. When that didn’t happen, Buckhorn graciously conceded defeat, the Tampa Bay Times is reporting.

It seems, true to his word, Buckhorn texted Emanuel just before midnight and received a return call moments later. Emanuel informed Tampa’s mayor he was more than ready to enjoy the 122 Cuban sandwiches, the “1905” salad from the Columbia and the Cigar City Invasion Pale Ale Buckhorn promised him.

“Great series by two great teams,” Buckhorn’s Facebook page said Tuesday.

The City of Tampa also seems quite proud of the showing its hometown team produced in the series.

“What a season,” the city’s Facebook page said.

Had the Bolts taken the cup, Emanuel would have had to pony up a Chicago deep-dish pizza and cheesecake.

There’s always next year!

How do you think the Lightning will fare in 2016?
