Oakleaf High School head wrestling coach Marcus Miller sees his program heading into 2020 on very solid footing. Coach Miller is in his first year as head wrestling coach while remaining on the football staff as and assistant coach.
Coach Miller is from Rochester Indiana and was introduced to wrestling at age 4 when his father became the high school wrestling coach. Coach Miller wrestled until his sophomore year in high school and then switched solely to baseball.
Coach Miller sees the wrestling team as solid through the lineup and are 17-7 in duals prior to the 1/9 dual meet. There are 4 to 5 wrestlers anchoring the team with strong contributions from the entire team. The team covers all 14 weight classes and is a tough out. The team consists of 30 wrestlers. Coach Miller and his assistants appreciate the students responding to the notion that they could wrestle. Competition within the program makes everyone better.

Several wrestlers are also football players and play other sports. Wrestling helps students in other sports. Major college coaches like Urban Myer at Ohio State went after dual sport athletes knowing their potential. Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis was a high school state champion wrestler.
According to Coach Miller getting through a 2 1/2 hour practice is the challenging part of the sports. Unlike football, wrestling practice is non stop. Wrestling in and actual match itself is the reward.
