Officer Treats Homeless Man to Lunch
A passerby captured the street-side scene Wednesday.

A Tampa Police Department motorcycle officer is being heralded as a living example of all âthatâs rightâ about the community.
The officer was out on patrol Wednesday when he decided to pull over to the side of the road and share lunch and conversation with a homeless man. The scene unfolded on the corner of Hillsborough and Florida avenues around lunchtime.
âYour officer should be rewarded for providing lunch for this homeless person,â Rusty Fox tweeted after capturing the scene on camera.

While the officer has yet to be identified by the police department, the agency has acknowledged the random act of kindness.

âThis is whatâs right with Tampa Bay,â the department wrote on its Facebook page.
The Tampa Police Department also acknowledged Foxâs tweet via its own Twitter account.
âWeâll track him down and be sure his supervisor knows about his good work,â the agency wrote. âThis is awesome.â
The officerâs kind act comes on the heels of a story out of Sarasota where a homeless man there has made national headlines thanks to his keen abilities on the piano. That man, Donald Gould, has seen his story go viral with millions of people checking out a video of him playing âCome Sail Awayâ that was posted to YouTube. Gouldâs story caught so much attention, in fact, that Inside Edition helped the 51-year-old former Marine get a makeover, complete with a new wardrobe.
Earlier this year, another Tampa Police Officer was credited with helping a homeless man recover a long-lost bank account. That story, too, gained national attention.
