Bicyclist Dies In Hit-And-Run Crash In Tampa, 27-Year-Old Arrested
Tampa police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist on North 50th Street.
TAMPA, FL — Tampa police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist on North 50th Street Sunday night.
At 7:46 p.m., a 61-year-old man was riding a blue Huffy bicycle east across 50th St at East23rd Avenue when he was struck by a four-door black sedan driving north on North 50th Street in the outside lane, according to a news release from the Tampa police.
Police said the driver fled the area without stopping to render aid. The bicyclist died at the scene.

On Monday afternoon, Tampa police announced they had arrested Joel F. Weaver. Police said Weaver's car was found and impounded at the River View Apartments on North 56th Street and East Sligh Avenue, and Weaver was identified as the driver. Weaver turned himself into police and admitted to leaving the scene after striking the bicyclist, police said.
He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with a death and taken to the Orient Road Jail.
