Photos: Presents for Primates Creates Holiday Hilarity
Lowry Park Zoo's critters tore into action during the annual celebration.
Humans don’t have a corner on the market when it comes to holiday spirit.
The primates at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo proved that point recently by donning Santa caps, tearing into presents and playing with new toys.
Part of the zoo’s ongoing enrichment program, Presents for Primates puts a holiday spin on routine activities for the critters who call the zoo home.

The enrichment program is “designed to encourage physical and mental activity while stimulating the animals’ senses and behaviors,” Rachel Nelson, zoo spokeswoman explained.
Holiday-themed enrichments are staged throughout the year at the zoo. The annual Pumpkin Toss even gets more critters involved than just the primates.
