Police Say Mustang Was Going 102 mph Before Hitting Mother, Child
The 18-year-old accused of striking and killing a mother and her toddler daughter was speeding down Bayshore Boulevard at 102 mph.

TAMPA, FL -- Court documents reveal the 18-year-old accused of striking and killing a mother and her toddler daughter was speeding down Bayshore Boulevard in his Mustang at an estimated 102 mph when the accident occurred.
Cameron Herrin was reportedly racing another car just before noon May 23 when he struck Jessica Raubenolt, 24, and her 21-month-old daughter, Lillia, who were legally crossing Bayshore.
Herrin and the driver of a Nissan Altima, 17-year-old John Barrineau of Tampa, were arrested and charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and street racing.

Residents Call For More Safety Measures Along Bayshore Boulevard
Herrin appeared in court Saturday, May 26, for a bond hearing wearing an anti-suicide suit rather than the typical orange garb worn by inmates.
His attorney, John Fitzgibbons, argued that the $200,000 bond was "excessively high" and Circuit Court Judge Art McNeil lowered it to $50,000.
Fitzgibbons also asked that Herrin, who just graduated from high school, be permitted to drive to college.
"He's not going anywhere" said Fitzgibbons. "He's no danger to the community. This is a horrible, one-time incident."
McNeil refused the request and ordered Herrin to wear a GPS device on his ankle.
Outside the courthouse, Fitzgibbons spoke to his client's character.
"My client Cameron is a nice kid. He's a good kid whose never been in any trouble," Fitzgibbons said.
