- 🏠 Over 100 protesters marched in Tampa against rising rent prices this past weekend.
- 🛥️ Hillsborough County leaders have advanced plans for the Cross Bay Ferry in a 5-2 vote.
- 🏈 Tampa Bay Buccaneers guard Aaron Stinnie was injured in Saturday's game against the Titans.

Here are the top stories in Tampa today:
1. Over 100 people marched to protest and bring awareness to rising rent prices in the Tampa area amid an affordable housing crisis. Rent in Tampa climbed more than 20% over the last year and remains above the U.S. average. Tampa is also the only city in the U.S. to have double-digit inflation. (Fox 13)
2. Dr. Xernona Clayton, a civil rights activist and former executive assistant to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., celebrated her birthday by giving back to one family in need in Tampa Bay. Marleny Ortiz wrote to her about battling homelessness and experiencing health issues. Clayton helped by dropping off boxes of supplies. (Bay News 9)
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers guard Aaron Stinnie, a former Tennessee player, was carted off the field late in the third quarter during the Bucs game against Titans after hurting his left leg. There was no update on his status after the game. The Bucs lost the game 13-3. (WTSP)
4. A Sarasota artist and fan of Grease (1978), Alexis Fraser, created a portrait of Olivia Newton-John using only lipstick. Newton-John passed away earlier this month at the age of 73. Fraser said lipstick is "a symbol of beauty so I love creating with it. It works very much like an oil pastel. It's fun and it's different and people love it." (ABC Action News)
5. Hillsborough County commissioners voted 5-2 during a Wednesday meeting to approve the first modification to the Cross Bay Ferry and a second interim public-private partnership agreement between Hillsborough County, HMS Ferries Inc., currently operating the existing Cross Bay Ferry, and South Swell Development Group LLC. Local leaders and experts fear the change will target minorities and the poor. (U.S. News)
- Civil rights leader and faith activist Dr. Rev. Watson Haynes II has died at age 69. The cause of death was not announced as of Sunday afternoon. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times)
- The World Poker Tour will come to Tampa for its $3,500 buy-in Seminole Hard Rock Tampa event, which runs from September 3 to 7. (Poker News)
