These changes are designed to eliminate crashes and injuries resulting from dangerous left turns at the busy Memorial Highway and George Road intersection. There have been 80 crashes at the intersection in the past five years with about five crashes per year due to left turns.

The improvements also are expected to reduce delays through the intersection. The reduced wait time for each vehicle could be as much as 41 seconds during morning peak hours and 19 seconds during afternoon peak.
