A fire broke out Thursday morning on the roof of a high-rise apartment building under construction at Midtown Tampa, reports said.

TAMPA, FL — A fire broke out Thursday morning on the roof of an apartment construction site at Midtown Tampa, according to multiple reports.

Construction crews working on the high-rise building reported the fire around 6:30 a.m., Bay News 9 reported.

Tampa Fire Rescue crews battling the blaze had it under control within 20 minutes, reports said.

The 18-story building, Midtown East, is located on Himes Avenue and Cypress Street, WFLA said.

It was evacuated by the time firefighters arrived and there were no injuries reported.

Himes and Cypress avenues near Midtown Tampa were closed to traffic while first responders put out the fire, Tampa Fire Rescue posted to X, formerly Twitter.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
