The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) Invites the Tampa bay community to view the work of Pulitzer prize nominated Photographer an

Located next to the Sykes building on the banks of the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa, The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) gives patrons the opportunity to enjoy an amazing collection of art, as well as beautiful scenery with the Tampa Riverwalk right outside the front door. FMoPA prides itself as an institution that is dedicated to exhibiting influential photographic art as being central to contemporary life and culture. The museum showcases multiple styles of photography to portray the intricacies of the medium as well as enrich the Greater Tampa Bay community. To stay true to its mission FMoPA has begun working with Shane Brown, an Oklahoma-based Cherokee photographer and filmmaker documenting the present-day cultural landscape of the American mid-west. And Kalup Lindsey, another renowned interdisciplinary artist, as guest curator of the exhibition.
Brown is a wildly successful photographer and cinematographer whose decorated work history includes Reservation Dogs created by Taika Waititi and Sterlin Harjo, Tiger King 2, The New York Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, Teton Trade Cloth, First Americans Museum, Love and Fury (2020), Mekko (2015), and This May Be the Last Time (2014). Most recently, Brown was a part of a team of Wall Street Journal editors, journalists, and photographers nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Explanatory Journalism.
The exhibition will take a look at Brown’s photographic survey “In the Territories” which delves into the cultural landscape of the American state of Oklahoma, its convoluted histories, and their present-day manifestations.
His other exhibition will follow his work as the on-set photographer for the Peabody Award-winning FX series, Reservation dogs. The comedy-drama show follows the exploits of four indigenous teenagers growing up on a reservation in Eastern Oklahoma.
