Sheriff Releases Disturbing Video Of Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to locate a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash.
TAMPA, FL â The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to locate a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Bearss Avenue in Tampa.
Just before 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, deputies responded to the intersection of East Bearss Avenue and North 22nd Street for a traffic crash involving a pedestrian.
A man was found with serious injuries and transported to Tampa General Hospital where he later died.

Surveillance video from the area shows the victim walking north across the westbound lanes of Bearss Avenue when he stepped into the path of a gray or silver vehicle. After hitting the victim, the driver continued on Bearssï»ż Avenue without stopping.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have been in the area of the crash to call 813-247-8200 with information that could lead to an arrest. Detectives are working to notify next of kin for the victim, whose address is listed as at-large.

"It is hard to understand how anyone could hit someone and simply drive away without so much as stopping to check on them. It is cruel and it is illegal," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "While this surveillance video is difficult to watch, we are hoping by releasing it that someone will recognize the vehicle involved in the crash and help detectives locate the driver."
