Sheriff's Detectives Seek Information On Fatal Drive-By Shooting

TAMPA, FL — Detectives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office are continuing to investigate a drive-by shooting that killed one and injured five others.

Detectives released photos of the car involved in the shooting Nov. 10 shooting, which was reported stolen Nov. 5.

Around 8 p.m. on Nov. 10, deputies went to a basketball court at North 50th Street and Sligh Avenue after receiving several 911 calls about gunfire.

A number of people were gathered on the basketball court when shots were fired from a car that drove by.

Upon arrival, deputies found eight gunshot victims. A 36-year-old man was transported to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. Two other victims are in critical condition, while five are listed in stable condition. The victims are between 17 and 36 years old.

After interviewing witnesses and processing evidence, detectives believe a group of people traveling in a 2008 silver, four-door Infiniti with tinted windows targeted the group on the basketball court. Detectives are still trying to determine the motive behind the attack.

"We lost a life due to senseless violence," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our deputies patrol this area constantly and are working tirelessly to curb the crime and identify the individuals who behave recklessly and have no respect for human life. We aim to restore peace to this community, and we will continue to crack down on those who cause harm."

Anyone who spots the car is urged to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office immediately at 813-247-8200.
