Short Film Documents Trek Of Teens Through Florida Wildlife Corridor
A free premiere of the film, "Home Waters," will take place Saturday morning at ZooTampa.

TAMPA, FL — ZooTampa at Lowry Park and the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation are joining forces to share a conservation message with the first public screening of the new short film, “Home Waters," Saturday at 8 a.m. in ZooTampa's new Florida Wilds section, 1101 W Sligh Ave., Tampa.
The film by National Geographic photographers Jenny Adler and Ian Segerbath follows the 2021 Spring to Shore Expedition of three Florida teens who explore Florida's natural environment from the headspring of the Rainbow River down the Withlacoochee River and out into the Gulf. Along the journey, they learn about their vital connection to the Florida wildlife corridor and to one another.
During the family-friendly event, guests will have the opportunity to chat with the expedition team and filmmakers, learn about the collaborations between ZooTampa and the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation and interact with animals in the zoo's Florida Wilds section.

“We are excited to partner with the Florida Wildlife Foundation to encourage guests to discover the natural wonders of Florida and the majesty of the wildlife that call it home," said Tiffany Burns, director of conservation for ZooTampa. “The film showcases an important message of conservation, highlighting the part we all play, regardless of age or background, in the vital preservation of our state’s beautiful treasures and limited resources.”
“This latest expedition that led to the 'Home Waters' film follows the teen trekkers on a 50-mile journey across local waters from Rainbow Springs to Homosassa Bay,” said Mallory Dimmitt, chief executive officer of the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation. “Our goal was to inspire the next generation of conservationists, which is why ZooTampa is the perfect partner to help amplify this message.”
